How The Legacy Of Lodge Cookware Continues Today

Thousands upon thousands pieces of cast iron cookware still grace the cooking hearth of many kitchens in the modern homes of today. It is truly amazing how a great many of these pots and pans will have the name "Lodge" stamped on the bottom surface of the cooking utensil. Furthermore many of these pieces have become a family heirloom. As you continue to read you will learn why the brand is still popular today.

The history of cast iron cooking implements goes well back for more years than you or I would care to count. A great many of immigrates to America brought their metal cooking tools with them. Then as they continued to migrate throughout America, their pots and pans went with them.

As the years passed these same articles became the mainstay for the cooks of the trail drives and others. One skillet, a Dutch oven and a baking pan would be all that was needed to prepare a meal. In addition, too being versatile and durable, they could be hung on the outside of the wagons thus freeing up valuable space in the wagons to store perishable goods. When water was scarce they could be scrubbed clean with the sand. The demand for this type of cookware continued to grow at the same pace, as the growth of the population.

Joseph Lodge, recognized the demand for these versatile cooking tools and began to cast these utensil’s in the early 1800's. He soon became known for producing quality cookware which was not only versatile, but produced great tasting food. Mr. Lodge brought his children into the business and instilled in each one of them the same pride and desires to produce the best cast iron cookware.  During 1896 the legacy continued, when the family opened the manufacturing plant located in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.

Over more than one hundred years the family has continued too produce outstanding cooking tools. Now the family run company has many more styles of iron cookware and accessories. Not only has the family remained consistent in the quality of their product, they have also remained in the forefront of the industry with new designs, colors, and perhaps most of all by introducing pre-seasoned cast iron cookware.

The Lodge brand became famous for its quality and phenomenal ability to produce great food.  One generation after another generation of users, has continued to pass the cookware down to each other. Each passing generation, teaching the following generation, how to use the Lodge cookware. You can find a great selection of  Lodge cookware here.
